Donald Trump has announced that he signed a trade deal with China yesterday during a "big, beautiful" event this evening. The US President is seeking to push through a piece of significant legislation to be voted on in the Senate. This is after what has become known as the "big beautiful bill" narrowly went through the House of Representatives by only a single vote. It aims to cut taxes, such as eliminating those on social security income. There would also be increased restrictions on who can receive Medicaid, as well as an increased cap on state and local taxes.
States would be forced to contribute more to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and end taxes on tips and overtime pay. There is also a call for an end to federal clean energy tax credits, imposed by President Joe Biden. But Senate Republicans have suggested phasing these out more slowly. Trump also wants to get a new border security package approved, which would inject around $150billion (£109billion) into his mass deportation agenda over the next four years.
The US President's press secretary, Karoline Leavitt said earlier today that he will "host a One Big Beautiful Event in the East Room, to rally Republicans to get the One Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line". "This is the largest tax cut for working and middle class Americans in history," she added.

'She happened to be beautiful, but I won't say that'
Mr Trump says he spoke with a "young beautiful waitress" at his hotel in Las Vegas.
"I will never say good looking waitress," he said, "because looks don't matter anymore, you know, in our modern society.
"She happened to be beautiful, but I won't say that."
The waitress apparently told him: "There should be no tax on tips".
The President recalled: "I said that's the coolest thing I've ever heard... and a legend was made."

Trump willing to accept
Mr Trump says he is willing to "accept short-term debt" as a result of the bill.
"We might have inflation," he adds. "If you do, you raise the [interest] rate a little bit. That's ok."
The President says the bill will deliver a record tax cut and record spending cut.
"Almost every promise" made during the election campaign will have been kept if the legislation passes, he adds.
Mr Trump also claims that, last month, there were zero crossings at the southern border.

Spanish premier snubs Trump
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez walked away from this week’s NATO summit in the Netherlands, the Associated Press reports, opting out from spending more on defence, which Donald Trump has been pushing for.
The country has also seen fresh threats of tariffs from the US President.
At a meeting on Wednesday, NATO members agreed to increase their defence spending to 5% of GDP.
But Mr Sanchez secured a last-minute exemption, saying that Spain will only spend up to 2.1%, which he called “sufficient and realistic”.
“What is clear is that trade policy is a policy directed from here, from Brussels,” Mr Sanchez said.
“Spain is an open country. It is a country that is friendly to its friends, and we consider the United States a friend of Spain.”

GOP threatens revolt
Some Republicans who usually side with Donald Trump have openly talked about their concerns with the cost of the multi-trillion-dollar tax cut and border bill.
Some senators believe planned cuts to spending are not big enough, whereas others think they are too large.
Some want even more tax cuts, and there are also Republicans who want the revocation of an AI provision in the legislation that would block states from regulating the tech for 10 years.

Trump claims Democrats leaked US strike information
President Trump has claimed that Democrats leaked a report claiming that damage to Iranian nuclear sites dealt by US strikes was not as extensive as he claimed.
Analysis suggested that the core components of the country’s nuclear program were not destroyed. This means the operation likely only set it back by months, according to an early US intelligence assessment.
CNN cited a battle damage assessment conducted by US Central Command in the aftermath of the attack.
President Trump wrote on Truth Social this evening: "The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran.
"They should be prosecuted!"
