Diwali in the Emirates: Indian schools in UAE declare 4-day extended holiday; must see events, fireworks and more

As the much-awaited festival of Diwali draws near, Indian curriculum schools across the UAE have declared a long four-day break from Friday, October 17, to Monday, October 20, 2025.

This thoughtfully planned holiday period, which falls alongside the weekend, offers families the perfect opportunity to travel, visit temples, and celebrate the Festival of Lights together. Schools like Our Own Indian School in Dubai have officially communicated the closure, extending warm Diwali wishes to their community, while classes are set to resume from Tuesday, October 21. The school issued an official circular stating, "On behalf of the entire OIS family, I extend warm wishes to you and your loved ones for a Happy Diwali.

Please note that the school will remain closed on Friday, October 17, 2025, and Monday, October 20, 2025, on the occasion of Diwali.

Regular school working hours will resume from Tuesday, October 21, 2025."Many other Indian schools in the Emirates are expected to follow suit, aligning with the spirit of the season and community sentiments.
