Did Trump AI advisor Sriram Krishnan donate to the Kamala Harris campaign? Here's the truth

Social media users wasted no time trolling Loomer for her error.

Far-right political activist

Laura Loomer

found herself at the center of an embarrassing Twitter storm after mistakenly accusing the wrong Sriram Krishnan of donating to Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign. Her tweet, aimed at undermining the credibility of President-elect Donald Trump’s AI advisor nominee, quickly unraveled as a glaring misstep.
The accusation that backfired
In her now-infamous post on X (formerly Twitter), Loomer wrote: "Hey Sriram Krishnan, what is this? Why did you donate to Kamala Harris's Presidential Campaign less than one month before the 2024 Presidential election? You didn't even vote for Trump... Now you want to infiltrate his admin?"

Alas, Laura Loomer was referring to a different Sriram Krishnan, a name that's as common as John Doe in Silicon Valley. The person in question was a different Sriram Krishnan.
Called out by the tech world
Prominent tech entrepreneur and Trump's AI Czar David Sacks was among the first to point out Loomer’s blunder. "It’s a different person with the same name. If you knew anything about tech, you might even know he’s a VC at a different firm. Have you told the President yet? Maybe it’s time to stop with this crusade before you embarrass yourself further," Sacks quipped.

Adding insult to injury, X’s

Community Notes

feature also clarified that the individual tagged by Loomer was unrelated to Trump’s AI advisor.

The internet reacts
Social media users wasted no time trolling Loomer for her error. One user mocked, "Laura is such a sad excuse for an investigative journalist. Jumping to conclusions for clickbait and then getting a smackdown from someone who knows what he’s talking about."

Another went even further, writing: "It’s a different person with the same name. But when you have plastics filled in body parts, your brains get affected too. Glad you are community noted."

The mistakenly tagged Sriram Krishnan joined the humor, tweeting: "After all of this, I should probably just show up at the White House on January 20th to claim a desk."

This sparked a fresh wave of jokes:
"This is such a funny exchange. What an embarrassment for her. Funnily enough, the tweet is still there. I thought she would delete it after clarity," one user wrote,

"Dude, don’t listen to the haters. They don’t understand innovation and maintaining the lead," another said.

Who is the real Sriram Krishnan?
The actual Sriram Krishnan nominated by Trump as an AI advisor is a highly accomplished Indian-American entrepreneur and general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Known for his leadership roles at Snap, Facebook, Twitter, and Microsoft, he has a Bachelor of Technology from SRM Engineering College in India and co-hosts The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy.
Loomer’s defense falls flat
Despite being called out by both experts and community notes, Loomer’s original tweet remains live, fueling further ridicule. Her attempt to undermine Krishnan’s credibility not only failed but highlighted her lack of due diligence. As one user aptly summed up, "This is what happens when you prioritize outrage over accuracy."
