A young beauty queen has died after a horror motorbike smash on one of Guatemala's most dangerous roads. Alondra Marianela Hernández Pérez, 20, was on her way to work when she suddenly lost control of her bike.

The fatal crash occurred on the afternoon of August 26 along the notorious San Marcos-Quetzaltenango which is renowned for its high frequency of accidents. Eyewitnesses immediately raced to her aid and she was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Alondra, who was crowned Miss La Blanca in 2024, tragically died the following day.

Authorities have not yet confirmed her exact cause of death, as reported by NeedToKnow. Witnesses believe the beauty queen may have slipped due to the difficult terrain.

The municipal government said in a statement: "The Departmental Queen of San Marcos mourns the passing of Alondra Marianela Hernández Pérez Miss La Blanca 2024.

"We send our condolences to her mother and siblings and to her community in La Blanca.

"Rest in peace."

Alondra had been crowned beauty queen for La Blanca in San Marcos Department in 2024 and was at the start of a promising career when tragedy struck.

Devestated friends and fans have expressed their deep condolences and sadness on social media.

A friend of Alondra wrote: “It is hard to believe that you are gone at the age of 20. Thank you Alondra for the smiles you brought. May you rest in peace.”

Taking to social media one fan simply wrote: "May her legacy live on forever." Another wrote: "My deepest condolences to the family."

The investigation into her death is ongoing.
