A political commentator has made a bizarre claim that China and Pakistan could strike Israel with a nuclear weapon.

China and Pakistan have threatened to nuke Israel if it carries out nuclear strikes on Iran, putting the world on the "brink of a nuclear holocaust," Cenk Uygur warned speaking to Piers Morgan.

"China and Pakistan have said that if Israel nukes Iran, they will nuke Israel," Uygur, activist and co-creator of The Young Turks, said during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. "So here we are on the precipice of a nuclear holocaust because this baboon [Trump] is in office".

Uygur, a former supporter of the Republican Party, launched his left-wing populist news program in 2002, and has since dedicated his career to criticising right-ring politics.

This followed comments that came after Israeli journalist Shimon Riklin raised the possibility of striking Iran with a neutron bomb during a shocking panel on Israel's Channel 14, which featured the country's National Security Minister Itamar Ben‑Gvir, The Mirror reported. Turning to Ben‑Gvir, Riklin said: "Why aren't we using what's called an atomic neutron bomb in Iran? It's a type of atomic bomb that doesn't damage buildings, it kills people in a limited way everywhere".

A two-week ceasefire agreed by the US and Iran came just 90 minutes before Donald Trump's deadline for Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz was due to expire. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last night begged the US president to extend the deadline, proposing a two-week ceasefire plan to "allow diplomacy to run its course".

Agreeing to the ceasefire, Trump said in a post on Truth Social: "Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks."

Today, however, despite the ceasefire, the UAE and Bahrain have come under more missile attacks.

UAE air defenses responded to a missile threat, despite the ceasefire, geopolitical analyst Michael Horowitz said. An explosion was also reportedly heard at an Iranian oil refinery after the agreement was reached.
