A man was arrested after driving his car into protestors outside a Tesla dealership in Florida. Andrew Dutil drove his vehicle onto the pavement full of protesters at a slow speed, forcing people to scramble out of the way to avoid being hit, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

No protestors were injured in the incident on Saturday. According to court records, Dutil was arrested and faces an assault charge. An attorney who could speak on Dutil’s behalf wasn’t immediately listed in court records.

The protest in Palm Beach County - also home to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort - was one of a number across the US at businesses associated with Tesla, the company led by Elon Musk, in response to the billionaire’s work with the Trump administration in cutting federal workforce and funding.

Attacks on property carrying the logo of Mr Musk’s electric car company are cropping up across the US and overseas.

More violent incidents include Cybertrucks being set on fire in Seattle and shots fired at a Tesla dealership in Oregon.

Mr Trump described people vandalising Teslas as "terrorists" and suggested anyone committing such acts could be sent to a mega-prison in El Salvador.

He said: “I look forward to watching the sick terrorist thugs get 20 year jail sentences for what they are doing to Elon Musk and Tesla. Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!”

While in the UK, a campaign group claimed to have staged the “world’s biggest anti-Elon Musk protest” by carving out a 250-metre long “Don’t buy a Tesla” message on a beach in Wales.

Mr Musk, the world’s richest person, is a close adviser to Mr Trump and leads the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency, known by the acronym DOGE.

The department is tasked with slashing federal spending but moves have been controversial and faced fierce criticism.
