Two trains have crashed in Chamoli District, India, leaving dozens of people injured.

The incident occurred at the THDC Hydroelectric Project in Pipalkoti, Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, on Tuesday night.

At least 60 people are hurt according to local reports.

Crash happened during shift change

Local media is reporting that the two trains collided during a shift change when workers were being transported in and out of the tunnel.

It is thought that one of the trains carrying workers into the tunnel rammed into the back of a stationary train, causing two of its coaches to derail.

More than 60 injured in train crash

At least 60 people are reportedly injured after two trains collided inside a tunnel in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.

It is believed that the crash happened at an under-construction hydro-electric plant at 8.30pm local time on Tuesday.
