The shooting happened at around 8.30am on Wednesday on Brooks Road in the Prospect Hill area of Caswell County, according to the Caswell County Sheriff's Office.Authorities have confirmed there were multiple fatalities, while one person was taken to hospital. Officials have not yet released the identities of those involved or confirmed the total number of victims. Speaking to local broadcaster WFMY, Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said there were "multiple fatalities" and one person remained in hospital. The sheriff said there are no outstanding suspects and stressed there is no ongoing threat to the public. "The community is safe," he said, adding that investigators believe it was "an isolated incident". The Caswell County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
