Many people are feared dead following a collision between a train and a minibus used for school transport. The horror incident happened at the crossing on Stationsstraat in Buggenhout, a town in Belgium, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services have flooded the scene, with pictures showing firefighters, police officers and paramedics in the area. Around 100 passengers were believed to be on board the train, travelling from Bruges, and were evacuated safely. It was not immediately known how many schoolchildren, if at all, were on the bus.

Police message
According to local VRT News, police said "we do not want to say anything about that yet".
"The family members are being informed first; they are being cared for at a nearby school."

Flemish Minister of Mobility Annick De Ridder (N-VA) expressed her "deepest condolences" on X and said: "It is particularly heavy and poignant news."

Local reports said there were nine people on the bus including a driver, an attendant, and seven secondary school children.

What we know so far
The incident happened in Buggenhout, a small town in Belgium, at approximately 8.15am local time;
The level crossing was reportedly closed at the time of the incident, Rail operator Infrabel said;
Around 100 people were on the train at the time of the incident;
It isn't known how many passengers, if at all, were on the bus;
A source has claimed several people may have died, but there haven't been confirmations of fatalities yet.
