Brit backpacker, 25, found dead in Malaysia one week after vanishing as phone went dead & family flew out to find him

A BODY found in a lift shaft in Malaysia has been identified as the missing Brit backpacker Jordan Johnson-Doyle.

Jordan, 25, was last seen at a bar in capital Kuala Lumpar but then vanished - sparking a desperate plea from his family and a police search.

Malaysian police confirmed today that a body was found at the base of a lift shaft on Wednesday, and has been identified as Jordan.

His distraught mother, Leanne Burnett, raised the alarm last Friday, explaining her son had not been heard from for three days.

The appeal read: "My son is missing in Kuala Lumpur.

"Please help us find him, all his family and friends are so worried. Please please share share share."

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa said on Wednesday the force had "received information that a man was found lying on his back in the lift [shaft] on the ground floor of a construction site."

Fire and rescue services recovered the body, and it was sent for a post mortem.

He added: "The results found that the cause of death was a chest injury sustained from a fall from height."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Jordan had been travelling around south-east Asia while working remotely for an American software company.

He maintained frequent contact with his family, so when his messages dried up his mum "knew something was wrong".

Jordan's last-known communication was when he sent a photo to his best friend Owen of a poster for a pub quiz at Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

He is believed to have then visited a nearby bar called The Social.

In the absence of any updates, his family flew out this week to help with the search.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were working with local detectives on the investigation.
