A huge fire has erupted near Bordeaux Airport, prompting a major emergency response.

Footage shows flames tearing through a building in Merignac as emergency crews battle the blaze.

Two firefighters have died, France’s Interior Minister has confirmed.

Fire started near airport car park

The flames reportedly started on Avenue Roland Garros, close to Bordeaux Airport's long-term P4 car park, according to Actu Bordeaux.

Fire has burned one hectare

The fire has already spread across around one hectare after breaking out at about 2.30pm local time, according to local newspaper Sud-Ouest.
