Man tackles alleged gunman at Bondi Beach

A hero dad-of-two has been caught on camera bravely tackling a gunman after shooters opened fire at a Jewish event in Sydney, Australia. Revellers had been enjoying a happy evening of celebration at the world famous Bondi Beach close to the city when at least two gunmen got out of a car and started shooting.

In an incredible piece of video shared on social media, one of the suspected gunmen can be seen firing shots before he is approached by a man who hides behind parked cars to get close. In an instant the man then leaps on the gunman and wrestles with the attacker before he manages to disarm him and turn the weapon on the terror suspect.

Wearing just jeans and a white T-shirt, the hero, who has been named by his family as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed, manages to place the large gun by a tree as the terrorist can be seen walking away from him. The camera then pans to another shooter who is still firing from a bridge seemingly towards Mr al-Ahmed. His family said he was undergoing surgery after suffering two gunshot wounds.

7News reports a cousin of Mr Ahmed told the channel he was undergoing surgery. He said: "He’s in hospital and we don’t know exactly what’s going on inside.

“We do hope he will be fine. He’s a hero 100 per cent."
