At least five teenagers were killed in a horror knife attack at a party in Russia. The victims are reported to be between the ages of 13 and 16. Four others were injured and taken to a regional hospital for treatment.

Police later arrested the main suspect, seventeen-year-old Mikhail Paramonov, and have opened a criminal investigation. The horrifying incident happened at a county cottage near Baikalsk in Siberia on Wednesday. Around 14 teenagers from School Number 11 had gathered for a birthday party, when tragedy struck.

Mikhail is accused of being "heavily intoxicated" according to witnesses and was said to have become enraged when a 14-year-old girl refused to have sex with him.

Despite attempts to calm him down, the young wrestler is alleged to have attacked and killed at least four of the partygoers.

One fifteen-year-old girl called Veronika managed to save herself by pretending to be dead after she was knifed.

It is alleged that, when Mikhail left the room, she fled to a house nearby to raise the alarm. The owners alerted police who rushed to the scene.

They said that, on arriving at the cottage, they saw the suspect “naked and holding a knife”.

He then allegedly re-entered the cottage and set fire to it by igniting a gas canister, according to local media reports.

Police subsequently found five bodies in the fire-ravaged house, four males and one female.

Regional children’s ombudswoman Tatyana Afanasyeva said: “As a result of this terrible crime, five teenagers were killed, including the attacker. Four were hospitalised.

“Three minors are receiving psychological assistance, they are in a state of profound shock.

“One minor was operated on, and may be transported to Irkutsk for further treatment, depending on his condition.”

Three days of mourning have been declared in Baikalsk by the head of the local administration.

Vasily Temgenevsky said: "Expressing grief for the victims and condolences to their families and friends, a three-day mourning is declared in the Baikal urban settlement on May 28, 29 and 30, 2025."
