Scene after man attacked at Berlin's Holocaust Memorial
A person was left in critical condition after an apparent knife attack in Berlin, German media reports, with police subsequently arresting one suspect.
The stabbing took place near the German capital's Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe on Friday - the Jewish sabbath, with dramatic pictures later showing several police restraining somebody on the ground.
A police statement said: "At around 6 pm, a man was seriously injured by an unknown person at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in #Mitte.
"The injured man was taken to hospital.
"Rescue workers are on site caring for several people who had to witness the events.

"Investigations are ongoing at the crime scene."
In an update they added: "Our officers have arrested a suspect near the crime scene.
"The person's identity is being checked and the investigation is ongoing."
Police have cordoned off an area between the memorial and the US Embassy.

German newspaper Tagspiegel said the man's injuries were the result of a knife attack.
It is not yet clear whether the victim, who has been taken to hospital with wounds not are not believed to be life threatening, was known to the attacker, reported the BBC.
Pictures at the scene showed large numbers of police and what appeared to be blood-stained clothing at the memorial, which is a field of 2,700 gray concrete slabs near the Brandenburg Gate in the heart of the city.

Other pictures showed police armed with machine guns.
German media outlet Nius claimed the victim had lost "a large amount of blood".
Newspapers reported that police were carrying out a manhunt for the perpetrator.
There is no indication yet of motive for the attack, which comes two days before Germans vote in a national election on Sunday.
