A bar manager has been jailed for 30 years for brutally murdering a customer in the toilets. The fatal attack unfolded in a bar in Nice, France, on February 6, 2022, before the murderer attempted to hide the victim's body.

The victim, M'hand Goumiri, left his apartment without a phone, jacket, and with the telvision left on at around midnight. However, he was soon reported missing and local police launched an urgent investigation to find him. Detectives were soon led to a bar named L'Atrium, located just steps away from the Promenade des Anglais, where he often visited.

In June 2022, police found traces of blood in the cellar underneath the bar. They cleared the contents of the cellar before grimly discovering a concrete sarcophagus containing the victim's mummified body, as reported by Entrevue.fr.

On the night of the murder, Mr Goumiri went to the bar to settle a dispute with the owner. He then got into a fight with a 38-year-old former boxer, with witnesses reporting seeing the pair exchange blows before leaving to clean themselves up in the toilets.

The bar manager, 58, then followed the victim to the toilets before knocking him down. He then kicked him repeatedly before holding a pistol to his head.

In a trial, the offender claimed he was being "harassed" and wanted to "correct" the victim rather than kill him. However, after beating him the manager returned to the bar with the boxer.

The former boxer reportedly tried to perform CPR on Mr Goumiri but he died at the scene. His body was then moved to the cellar before being hidden in a concrete blog.

The bar manager was sentenced to 30 years behind bars on Wednesday after a trial at the Alpes-Maritimes Assize Court. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old former boxer was sentenced to three years in prison.

Both men said they would appeal their sentences. Meanwhile, the victim's family were left in tears after the verdict was made.
