A huge explosion has ripped through the Azerbaijani capital of Baku in the Yasamal district. Smoke and flames billowed over the nearby tower blocks after the blast. Unconfirmed reports on social media said the explosion occurred at an "old pyrotechnic area." Emergency services were reportedly rushing to the scene.

The Ukrainian news outlet, 24 Channel, is reporting that the fire has been contained, but emergency services personnel remain at the scene.
It cites the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reporting that the fire was quickly contained.
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergencies has said information spread by some media outlets about there having been an explosion at the Alov plant is not true, according to 24 Channel.

Flames and smoke could be seen billowing over the Yasamal district. Although unconfirmed reports suggested it occurred at the Defence Ministry's Alov Plant, they have denied this.
Now reports, though unconfirmed, are suggesting the blast occurred at the Jafar Jabbarli Film Studio.
