AT least 35 people are dead and 43 are injured after a car rammed through a crowd outside a sports complex.

The horror smash happened in China - with Xi Jinping urging "all-out efforts" to treat those who survived.

Local police said investigations are underway into the 62-year-old driver.

The group of people were outside a sports complex popular with joggers and walkers in the southern city of Zhuhai, in Guangdong Province.

Video published on Chinese social media show bodies lying on the ground in pools of blood.

But these were quickly censored from from social media by Chinese authorities, a report claimed.

The tragedy comes just a day before the city was set to host a major airshow that features China's new J-35 stealth fighter.
