Archaeologists have said they have discovered a "lost city" 4,000 feet underground that would reshape how we view Ancient Egypt and human history in general. It would also change what we know about the origins of the Egyptian pyraminds, researchers say. Italan archeologists said earlier this year that they has found cylindrical structures underneath the pyramids of Giza. However, a recent update, if proven to be true, will completely change the history we have been taught about the pyramids.
The historians claimed to have discovered 'vertical cylinders' that stretch thousands of feet below the ground which they say contain a water system as well as pipe lines and chambers. The researches called the discovery "an entire hidden world of many structures" but scientists have criticised the group's claims with some even going as far as to call it fake news. The team has now claimed to make another groundbreaking discovery, this time in relation to the pyramids that we can see above the ground.
The researches claim to have discovered the real age of the pyramids, saying that they are far older than wer originally thought. The contruction of the Egyptian pyramids is thought to have taken place some 4,500 years ago.
However, these Italian researchers are now claiming that these iconic structures were built thousands of years before that, some 38,000 years ago.
They told the Daily Mail that the pyramids were built by a pre-existing civilisation who were wiped out by a "divine flood" which left only the pyramids remaining. They said: "Some blocks near the Great Pyramid's entrance show clear signs of water erosion."

"Only certain stones are affected, suggesting part of the pyramid was submerged in ancient times," they added. They also claimed that thick salt encrusting had been found inside the Great Pyramid which indicated an oceanic flood has taken place there.
However, Dr Zahi Hawass, Egypt's former Minister of Antiquities, said that these signs of erosion are due to natural weathering rather than an extinction level event. He also said that the salt crusts come from within the limestone themselves.
One of the researchers making the claim, Mei, said: "Scientists have stated that there aren't clues of an impact on Earth. But the Earth is 80 percent ocean. So it's possible that the impact was in in the ocean, and water destroyed the preceding civilization that lived on Earth."
The team's discovery is yet to be put into a journal and peer-reviewed by experts.
