Anonymous donor gives Cincinnati $1.8 million for city’s biggest forest restoration in decades

An anonymous donor has given Cincinnati $1.8 million to restore 228 acres of forest at French Park in Amberley Village. The five-year project is being described as the city’s largest reforestation effort in a park in nearly 100 years. According to WVXU, the restoration will focus on removing invasive plants, planting native trees, improving wildlife habitat and upgrading trails and access points. The donation will also fund a Natural Resource Specialist who will supervise the work throughout the project. French Park is spread across more than 280 acres and includes wooded hillsides, creeks, meadows, hiking trails and an event space.
