American Airlines flights are being impacted by the company's maintenance system "being down", it has been reported. Several social media users have taken to Reddit and X to ask fellow travellers whether they were having issues with their flights.
One wrote on Reddit: "Sitting at the airport, they are saying AA flights everywhere are impacted by maintenance system being down. Anyone know anything???" The incident appears to be impacting people from across the US. One social media user replied: "That's the story we're getting on the tarmac in Fort Myers. Pilot says can't get a flight plan, can't get a fuel report, can't get a passenger manifest because their system is down. Systemwide outage." A second claimed: "In Charlotte parked at gate...waiting on system to come back up." The Express has contacted American Airlines for comment.

American Airlines operations are "returning to normal" after it suffered a widespread outage with its flight information computer system, CNN reports.
A source from one affected airport said the airline had sent messages indicating problems for at least two hours with the system that handles flight bookings.
Check-in, ticketing and baggage taggingwere also affected.
@iamcpdev took to X to write: "It would be nice for you all to make an announcement saying that flights aren't being allowed to take off from GDL to DFW as they're saying the system for maintenance checks is down and not allowing them to accept the plane.
"Horrible experience. Been onboard for hours."
American Airlines reponded: "Our team is awaiting the all clear to take the air, and we truly apologize for the added wait.
Passenger Bruce Schultz said on X: "Sitting on the plane at PHX stuck. Flight was supposed to depart at 10:50AM to DFW.
"They said systemwide outage. Hopefully it'll be up soon."
Another person wrote on Reddit from the tarmac in Fort Myers: "Pilot says can't get a flight plan, can't get a fuel report, can't get a passenger manifest because their system is down.
Another person who says they work for AA wrote: "AA employee chiming in - our entire system went down, including flight releases, QIK for check in, even the baggage program went down.
"It seems to be coming and going.
"There's still a ton of issues and it's definitely an ongoing situation."
Someone claiming to be an AA agent took to Reddit to write: "Our whole system went down. What was an on time flight ended up being a 1 1/2 hour delay because the programs we use are all down.
"Couldn’t board anyone so we had to manually board, then the plane sat on the tarmac for over half an hour cuz the pilot couldn’t get his numbers.
"Been on the phone with IT for over an hour just to get a ticket number. Not excited to work the next flight coming in lol."
Pilot jokes 'sending his wife to Walmart for a new computer'
Another passenger, Derick Bores, wrote on X: "On a flight from DFW to CUN and we can’t take off because your pilot can’t sign the maintenance form due to his computer not working.
"He said he’s sending his wife to Walmart to get a new one and laughed.
"How professional is this? Been sitting at the gate for 45mins and your pilot has jokes.
