More than 575 Nevada volunteers worked across 26 Truckee River watershed sites and removed 120,125 pounds of waste in one day (Image Credit: KTMB) A single day of community cleanup across Nevada’s Truckee River watershed resulted in more than 60 tons of waste being removed from public spaces, waterways and surrounding areas. According to Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB), more than 575 volunteers worked across 26 sites on September 26, removing a total of 120,125 pounds of waste. The haul included 9,095 pounds of litter, 46,710 pounds of green waste and 64,320 pounds of invasive weeds. Of the litter collected, 2,500 pounds came directly from the Truckee River itself. The effort also included planting, mulching and storm-drain projects designed to protect the watershed beyond the cleanup day.Volunteers spread across 26 cleanup sitesThe annual Truckee River Cleanup was organised by KTMB, which brings volunteers together each year for projects throughout the Truckee River watershed.
