A rampaging militia in Africa has been accused of slaughtering innocent civilians in another brutal attack. Sudan has been ravaged by a vicious civil war that broke out in April 2023, as a result of a power struggle.

This pitted the country's army against a ruthless and powerful paramilitary group, known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The RSF is led by General Dagalo and has its origins in the notorious Janjaweed militia, accused of carrying out a genocide in Dafur between 2003-2005. In June 2025, the militia scored a major military success when it seized territory along Sudan's border with Libya and Egypt.

They followed this up with the capture of el-Fasher in late October, meaning they now almost fully control the provinces of Dafur and Kordofan.

Fighters from the paramilitary group have been rampaging el-Fasher and carrying out an unprecedented slaughter of civilians trapped in the city.

Experts estimate that tens of thousands have been killed over the course of the last seven days or so. Land stained red by blood from the massacres can even be seen in satellite photographs of the city and its surrounding areas.

In the latest horrific incident, reports have emerged of a fresh slaughter of civilians trying to escape the terror.

The independent news website Sudan Nabaa says it has received reports that 30 women were killed by the ruthless rebels in an attack near Al-Ubayyid city in Kordofan.

The women were sheltering in a "condolence tent", when the merciless assault took place.

Another 49 women were injured, as the RSF continues its bloody and inhumane onslaught against civilians.

RSF fighters have been uploading videos to social media channels, that highlight the carnage they left behind in el-Fasher.

One shows dozens of bodies on the ground and fighters with RSF insignia walking among them as vehicles burn nearby and sporadic gunfire can be heard in the background.

“We killed them,” the man who took the video says. “They are just dust now.”
