The rare Porsche had remained largely untouched and was presented in unrestored, barn-find condition, making its appearance at auction very different from that of a fully restored classic. Gooding Christie’s offered the car from the New Woodstock Collection, while Elferspot documented its long storage, original details and condition. Its sale brought an old Porsche back into the spotlight without erasing the history that came with its decades of inactivity.What made the 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster so rareThe car was a Pre-A Porsche 356 Speedster, an early version of the model that was produced in limited numbers. According to Elferspot, chassis number 81093 was one of just 1,234 Pre-A Speedsters built during 1954 and 1955.
